 Alfonzo Brown was born in 1939 in Bedford, Virginia to the late Ilene Brown and the late Wallace Jordan. In 1969 he married Virginia Blackwell of Corona Queens and the two of them raised a beautiful family of six girls and five boys.

Alfonzo Brown’s ministry began in 1956 under the guidance of the late Bishop H. Ford, founder of The Church of God in Christ Jesus of the Apostles' Faith Inc. It was there where he was ordained first a deacon, then a minister.  Later on, he was elevated to an elder and finally became bishop and chairperson of the church including the body of churches under the organization.  These bodies of churches are located in Jamaica, New York, Lakeview, New York, Farmville, Virginia, Washington, NC and Anniston, Alabama.

Alfonzo Brown not only labors in the gospel, but also labors faithfully in his community. He started and oversees an outreach program (which is a non for profit organization) with the help of his wife, members of the church and volunteer workers.  The outreach program is run directly from the church.  It has a food program that serves over 1,000 people in the community a week.

The outreach program also services mothers who are in need of assistance taking care of their young children.  The outreach program has connections with various organizations such as: City Harvest, United Way, Food for Survival, Fresh Direct and various local food centers. Alfonzo Brown’s renown work has been acknowledged by the state as well as the city of New York. He has been given the following prestigious awards for his service:
